Racism is a social construct. It is learned and can be unlearned. Racists usually are a product of their environment where hatred is normalized and accepted by their loved ones and community. There is a possibility to break the cycle of racism only if you can acknowledge the sources of your racism.
In this video from Advise Media Network, an online publication, a former racist will explain why he believes some white people are racist towards African Americans and people of color in general.
A lot of white people will attack this commentary on race relations as it will hit home for many of them. White fragility is toxic and harmful to everybody, and the sooner you acknowledge it the sooner we can destroy racism itself. Not talking about it won’t make it go away. Instead it will fester and grow.
